Job Summary: Designs systems and metal fabrication components for grain handling products. Preliminary and advanced work in the development of working layouts and final drawings will be performed for new proposals and current designs. Determines product specifications; performs verification/maintenance and product management. This role will illustrate systems from specifications, source control drawings, sketches, models, prototypes or verbal instructions. In addition, will ensure that company operating and cost efficiencies are obtained, quality and safety standards are achieved, and customer delivery deadlines are met.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
K: Bachelor of Engineering Degree or equivalent from four-year College. 7 or more years related Engineering experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PE
preferred. Valid driver’s license required.
S: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong project management experience.
Strong background in material selection and application.
Engineer design skills with metal fabrication, material handling equipment, grain systems, or equivalent.
Proficient computer skills, including Windows, Word and Excel, Internet, CAD or other drafting programs
Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Duties & Responsibilities:
Position requires the ability to react, move about, install, remove and replace objects, exchange information verbally, detect and observe situations; drive an automobile; lift and move 50 pounds; work with others; requires the use of automobile, test equipment, computer and PBX system; near and far vision is required; works with mechanical and electrical devices; infrequently works with chemicals and toxins.
Typical Working Conditions:
The person in this position will work inside; normal work hours are Monday through Friday between 7:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M.; additional hours may be required during the week or on weekends.
Point FactorsNature of Supervision Received:
Work is performed under the supervision of the Engineering Manager. Works independently within authority limits and experience level. Incumbent must establish priorities and independently set daily objectives to meet deadlines and address urgent situations as they occur.
Judgment Exercised/Decisions Made:
Requires the ability to comprehend and evaluate facts and arrive at a decision consistent with company standards and procedures. Must be thorough and accurate in making selections, determining product specifications, and monitoring current performance. Decisions are required as to which procedures are applicable to a given situation and how best to obtain results consistent with company practice.
Substantial financial loss could occur if work specifications are incorrect which would lead to inefficient use of company capital resulting in expenditures to fix poor quality product to customers. This individual’s technical responsibilities and support of our business is key to ongoing success and profitability.
Responsibilities for Business Contacts:
Contact with other employees within the organization as well as customers and vendors outside the organization.
Supervise and direct the Structural draftsman, including setting expectations and deadlines, providing training/developmental opportunities and feedback, and ensuring goals are met in an efficient and effective manner.
