Supplier Quality Engineer works directly with Customer suppliers in Europe. Suppliers are mostly in Germany, but travel can include all of Europe, Israel and Turkey (candidate must speak German) to do the following:
a. System level quality audits (using VDA 6.3 standard)
b. Floor level quality audits
c. Advance Quality Planning (APQP)
d. Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
e. Global 8D corrective action for quality issues
f. Coordination of supplier requests for engineering changes
g. Implementation and approval of engineering changes
Assignment works for a major manufacturer of Trucks, Buses and Diesel Engines based in the US. Assignment is 80% Diesel Engine components and subsystems.
Challenges include managing the supplier base to ensure quality requirements are met as defined and ensuring suppliers are engaged in continuous improvement efforts in support of the defects goal.
The Supplier Quality Engineer is to be liaison between Manufacturing, Design, Purchasing and Suppliers to ensure all truck and engine components are defect free.
Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology with a quality emphasis and one or more professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE). Mechanical
Engineering skills with knowledge of Electronic Manufacturing preferred. Must have project management skills, knowledge of VDA 6.3, ISO9000, Mistake Proofing, Knowledge of
Technical Drawing GD&T, and proven time management skills.
High travel -- will travel 60-70% of the time. Must speak German. Looking for contractors to reside in Holland or England, open for discussion. Suppliers are mostly in Germany, but can include all of Europe and a few suppliers in Israel and Turkey. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
